BDI’17: alight dance theater

We are 11 days away from a show you do not want to miss!

alight dance theater is committed to building a dynamic community of collaborative artists who work together to create visually striking, emotionally resonant performance events.

Blending dance, physical theater, & spoken word, alight dance theater was founded by Angella Foster to speak truthfully about the habits of the human heart through movement, embracing the brokenness and celebrating the pursuit for wholeness in a fragmented world.

Conceiving of the body as the most articulate storyteller, alight uses full-bodied physicality as well as subtle gesture to give voice to the stories which are concealed, hidden, or neglected in our day-to-day lives.

For the Baltimore Dance Invitational they are presenting a work entitled “Page 115″. In this work, ” a reader guides dancers through a myriad of experiences, unpacking an iconic passage from A Time to Kill by John Grisham. The dancers exhibit thoughts in the reader’s head, as she deciphers her own meaning from the words in the famous text. Through both movement and language, this excerpt of Page 115 gives voice to sentiments of judgment, distrust, and misunderstanding, opening the door for inquiry of our preconceived notions of people and systems in our society.”
